Editorial policy

Every page on Betting Sites in Kenya is drafted by the editorial desk with AI tools, with the Act, the Regulations and the regulator's list open, and is checked automatically against those sources before it is published. This page sets out what that means in practice: which sources count, what is never published, how a page is checked and who checks it.

Sources that count

Legal statements come from primary documents only: the Gambling Control Act, 2025 (No. 14 of 2025), published in Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 141 on 12 August 2025, assented to on 7 August 2025 and in force from 26 August 2025; the 2026 Regulations made under it, namely the Licensing Regulations (L.N. 111), the Conduct of Gambling Operations Regulations (L.N. 112), the Foreign-Based Operators Regulations (L.N. 113), the Advertising Regulations (L.N. 114) and the Gambling Appeals Tribunal Regulations (L.N. 115); and the Gambling Regulatory Authority's own pages, above all its list of licensed gaming companies for the trading period. Tax figures come from the Income Tax Act, the Excise Duty Act, the Finance Acts and the Kenya Revenue Authority; payment facts from the Central Bank of Kenya and the published tariffs of Safaricom and Airtel; data protection from the Data Protection Act, 2019 and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner; app-store rules from Google's and Apple's own policy pages. Where a fact exists only on a news site, a forum or an operator's marketing page, it is not used.

What is never published

Rankings, ratings, scores or best-of lists of bookmakers. Bonus amounts, promo codes or welcome offers. Hyperlinks to any operator; domains appear as plain text as the regulator lists them. Testimonials, or claims of first-hand dealings with any site: nobody on this desk has deposited, bet or withdrawn in order to write a page, and no page says otherwise. Calls to bet, deposit or register. Wording that presents gambling as income or as a solution to money problems. Content aimed at anyone under 18.

How a page is prepared

A page starts from a brief that names its question, its cluster and the sources to open. It is drafted with AI tools while those sources are open, and every legal statement is written with its section or regulation number in the sentence. Arithmetic is shown, labelled "Illustrative example", and carries the date of the rate it uses. Operator facts come from the regulator's list alone, with the trading period and the snapshot date next to them.

How a page is checked

Before publication every page passes automated checks: each legal statement has a locator; the 18+ notice and the link to the responsible gambling page are present; no promotional or promissory wording appears; no operator is linked; no text duplicates another page; titles, descriptions, headings and dates are within their limits; no em or en dashes are used. A page is published only at zero defects. There is no named human reviewer at present: the byline "prepared with AI tools under our editorial policy" links here so that this is plain on every guide, and a named reviewer will be added to this page and to the bylines when the publisher appoints one.

Dates

Every page shows the date it was last updated. The list of licensed bookmakers shows the date the regulator's page was read and the trading period it covers. Tax and tariff figures carry an "as of" date. When the law changes, the page changes and the date moves.

Independence

No operator, affiliate network or advertiser pays for anything on this site, and none has any say over what is published. The site earns nothing at present, as the How we make money page explains, and the law behind the absence of operator links is set out on the About page.

Mistakes

Errors are corrected on the page and recorded, with the date, on the Corrections page. A wrong section number, a stale line of the list and a sum that does not add up all count. Until a contact channel is published, the corrections log is the record of what was found and fixed.

Readers under 18

This site is for adults. Anyone under eighteen is a minor who must be kept out of gambling and gambling promotion under the Conduct Regulations (L.N. 112, r.92(1)(c)), and gambling adverts may not depict or appeal to minors (L.N. 114, r.6(1)(c)(iii) and r.9(d)). No page here is written for, or illustrated for, a younger reader.
